She has been published in academic journals in the field of ergonomics and physical function in Parkinson’s Disease, and has presented at conferences in the United States, Japan and Italy.

Ellis is currently the secretary for the Mountain District of the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association. She enjoys swimming, biking and roller skating, participating in a local Roller Derby league. Prior to her career in the physical therapy field, Ellie worked for Nantahala Outdoor Center as a raft guide and ropes course instructor, and was a track coach for five years.

Ellie says she loves where her career has taken her. “There is nothing more satisfying to me than helping others to be able to do what they love, by achieving independence that comes from movement without physical limitations.”
